Quick update: No Internet at the RV park in Woodburn. Wi Fi is there but for some reason (our usual bad luck I suppose) our laptop refuses to connect! I am at the Woodburn, Oregon library to read my e-mail and update the blog. Forgive the lack of detail ... I'll do better next time.
Our trip from Shelton to Woodburn was uneventful ... just the way we like it! The ruts in the I-5 "slow lane" were jerking Phil back and forth and we brainstormed the problem until we figured out that it was most likely the road conditions after seeing a big difference in handling on newer sections of the road. I loved riding up so high and seeing the sights from that vantage point but had sympathy for Phil because he was too busy concentrating on driving to enjoy the scenery but of course, he's seen it all before many times. I hope that changes over time as he gets used to doing this. I have too but this time ... it was a whole new ballgame. Our FIRST day as fulltime RVers!
The RV park is very nice, quiet and about half full. Every sort of rig you can imagine from huge diesel pushers to tiny little travel trailers. Phil forgot our second water hose and the pressure regulator in Shelton but so far, we're doing okay without them.
Sheila and Ted had dinner ready for us, including Phil's favorite ... blueberry pie ... when we found their little farm in Silverton, after dark I might add. Phil's eyes are so much better than mine, he had no trouble reading the road signs and following Sheila's directions. Their son, Bill and his two boys, joined us for dinner. His wife had the newest baby with her (can't remember where she was but kept him because he had to nurse). The whole day we were running late so in spite of how much we didn't want to find the RV park and hook up then find their house in the dark that's what happened. We did fine but Sheila was worried about our getting home so she jumped in her little Saturn and led us back to Woodburn when we drove home.
Yesterday we spent all morning trying to get on line including over an hour with the Wi Fi tech to no avail. Spent the afternoon with Sheila and Ted at the Newberg cemetery then they headed home and we went to Dottie's for another welcome dinner and visiting with her husband, Sy, sister Sandy and we met her little granddaughter, Jada and her mother, Sheila joined us after work for dinner as well. We had no trouble finding our way back to Woodburn from Newberg ... must be getting the hang of this!
Not sure of our plans this afternoon but they will include Sheila and tech and hopefully some sightseeing around Silverton. Sheila says it is a very historic town. I'll take lots of pictures to load once I'm back on line at home.
Don't know when I'll write again ... just keep checking and don't give up on me, okay?
