Wow! We arrived in New Haven Connecticut for a couple nights yesterday afternoon and then hunkered down last night while a thunderstorm passed over us. What a surprise that was! Not one word of warning from the meteorologists. They forecasted “rain” but no one mentioned anything more exciting than that. Fortunately, it didn’t last too long but it woke me up and kept me awake while I counted (one 1000, two 1000 and so on.) between lightning flashes and the boom of the thunder. Except for one that sounded like it was right on top of us, most often I was up to 5-6-7 before the thunderclap. This morning, all is quiet and there was even a little sun when I woke up about 7 AM.
Today, we plan to drive north to Hartford via back roads (the flora and fauna are in full glorious color as I am writing this) to view and photograph the state capital building then turn south again and stop at the only Wal*Mart SUPERCENTER within 100 miles for some shopping … our list is getting pretty long!
We leave tomorrow for Jackson New Jersey where we’ll spend a week touring the cities of New York and Philadelphia while exploring the beautiful “Garden State”. Of course, we’ll also be keeping an eye on “Wilma”, hoping she’s gentle with the eastern seaboard.
