It has been 48 years since I was last in “La Florida” and I am so happy to be here! This is Phil’s first time in “The Land of Flowers” so named by Ponce de Leon when he claimed the North American continent for Spain back in the spring of 1613. We are soaking up the sunshine and enjoying the beautiful blue skies in spite of the tepid temperatures. We have seen lots of people in shorts and t-shirts but just as many in long pants and sweatshirts. I’m perfectly comfortable when the thermometer is in the mid-60s but Phil needs the mid-70s before he breaks out his shorts and tank tops.
The RV Park where we’re staying here in St. Augustine is on a narrow strip of land that goes north to ??? (haven't bothered to look yet) with one end just across the narrow two-lane road from the ocean and at the opposite end there is a 1000 ft. dock that extends out into the inland waterway for fishing. So far, Phil hasn’t tried to catch his Florida fish but we have plenty of time. I think we’ll be down here for a while … we like this sunshine a lot, and hurricane season ended two days ago!
