HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
Most of you already know or have figured it out by now that “what you see is what you get” where I’m concerned still some might determine I’m superficial after this disclosure but, I’m going to risk that and admit—I’m a TV addict! It will trouble me if you think less of me for acknowledging my addiction (hey, I read books too ;-) but still I’m not going to apologize (because my addiction hurts no one and gives me a lot of pleasure … and I’m not getting any younger so I need all the pleasure I can get) and you will soon understand the purpose of my confession as you read on.

I think I am fairly selective but there are still so many shows I love to watch I’m probably one of the very few people who actually look forward to reruns so I can catch up on episodes I have missed because I’ve gone somewhere or done something that kept me away from the TV. We have a satellite dish on a tripod for the motorhome and subscribe to Dish TV as well as an antenna on the roof for local network channels whenever they are within reach of where we park. Also, if the RV Park has cable TV available we always hook up to that so we have at least three ways to light up one or both of our boob tubes. When we are at home and awake, the television is always on.

That said, you will believe it isn’t an exaggeration when I say I love watching the Food Network and I especially love watching Paula Deen. Paula’s down home southern cooking makes my mouth water while watching her put her signature family dishes together all the while telling stories on herself that are sometimes hilarious but always heartwarming.

So, have you guessed by now what one of our reasons were for visiting Savannah, Georgia? That’s right, Paula lives in this beautiful extraordinary place and every day on her show she gives her viewers a tiny little taste of her hometown. Also, I hoped to have a meal in her restaurant called “The Lady and Sons” and coincidentally, can you believe it is right smack in the middle of Savannah's "Historic District"? Is that luck or what! We drove into town on Thanksgiving Day and went on a very enjoyable narrated tour of Savannah on the Old Town Trolley. Two days later we had reservations for a “Paula Deen Tour” where for nearly three hours we were escorted around Paula Deen’s Savannah. The tour included lunch at “Bubba’s Oyster House” (a new restaurant that Paula co-owns with her brother, [you guessed it] “Bubba”) and our guide chattered non-stop about every aspect of Paula’s life and career. This was totally fascinating to a Paula fan like myself and I think Phil even enjoyed himself. Her story is truly rags to riches and in my opinion, the fame and fortune being showered upon this captivating lady today is totally justified. Paula is truly one of a kind!
