Our solar panels are on. We were disappointed that we didn't have enough space for six panels but according to "the experts", there just wasn't enough room. They said, we have a "short MH and very cluttered roof". Oh well, there are alternatives that I'll go into another time. Also, we do have a good generator to supplement the panels if we get into a pinch out in the desert. It took two very long days to get the work done because Starlight Solar owner, Larry, who is usually involved with the installations was gone ... off doing the home show across town! Just our luck, huh? So two guys had to do the work of three and it took almost twice as long. We entertained ourselves by walking miles of the Arizona Flea Market stalls (where their company is located and the installation takes place) both days with cousin, Nada part of one day and friends, Joan and Charlie part of both days. We shopped, talked, ate lunch and ice cream. We also bought some beautiful (and reasonably priced) fresh produce and fruit. By the end of the second day, I fell into bed after dinner exhausted. Larry is coming to the motorhome today to do a final check and program the system to work with our new batteries which are supposed to be state of the art. We spend yesterday afternoon and evening with my Auntie Elaine, went out to dinner with her and said our good byes.
We're leaving Yuma tomorrow morning. We've been here for three weeks and for the most part, we've had a great time. Spending time with my Aunt Elaine and Nada (that I last saw at our Cox Family Reunion in 1997) was the best part of being here but Yuma's great weather (after a few shaky days of cold and rain) helped endear this little city to us as well. We've learned to really like this place. Another reason besides good weather is that Yuma is so very RV and RVer friendly. You can't drive a block anywhere in town without seeing a motorhome, 5th wheel, trailer or pickup and camper on the road. There are 100s of RV parks and for the most part, they are all very nice and equally friendly. "We" are everywhere and they love us and cater to us. Roads are wide, parking lots are big and supplies and repairs are on every corner. But alas, it's time to head on down the road we're off to Quartzsite ... a whole 85 miles away! With luck, I'll be back on line on Wednesday.
